Georgia Baptist Convention

The Georgia Baptist Mission Board partners with associations, Southern Baptist Convention agencies and others to enable churches to tell people about Jesus, to mature believers, to care for persons in need and to begin healthy churches. The Georgia Baptist Convention is made up of autonomous, cooperating churches that partner together through the Cooperative Program and special mission offerings and mission efforts to share Jesus Christ across Georgia, throughout North America, and around the world.

Southern Baptist Convention

The Southern Baptist Convention has grown to be a network of more than fifty thousand cooperating churches and church-type missions banded together to make an impact for God’s Kingdom. Each Southern Baptist church is autonomous and unique; only when viewed together can one grasp the diversity that is the Southern Baptist Convention.

What Are The Advantages of Affiliating With the SBC?

It allows us to identify with other Christians around the world who are known for their commitment to the Bible.  Unlike other groups, the SBC has no man-made “creed”.  The Bible is our only authority.

It allows our church to participate in the largest missionary organization in the world.  Through the SBC “Cooperative Program”, we help support over 12,000 missionaries engaged with 872 people groups.

Why Not Just Be An Independent Church?

We are an independent church!  Every SBC church is completely independent.  There is no denominational control or hierarchy, as there is in most other denominations.  Each church is self-governed and determines its own affairs.

For Example:

Every SBC church chooses its own pastors.

Every SBC church acquires its own buildings and assets.

Every SBC church determines its own programs.
