Dr. Rourk spent twenty years engaging the postmodern culture while living out the gospel as a church-planting missionary pastor in three countries. He helped plant ten churches throughout his ministry including six churches in Minsk, Belarus, a church in NYC, & three churches in Toronto, Canada.
He returned to Atlanta in 2017 to continue sharing the gospel of the Kingdom by revitalizing & replanting churches in his home state. He has been the lead replant pastor at CBCMarietta since 2017. CBCMarietta is his first replant where in just two and half years he grew the church from twelve people to sixty-six people prepandemic.
After devastating losses over the past three years, he managed to keep the church open. He is now leading a remanent to replant the church for a second time. The North American Mission Board (NAMB) endorsed Scott and his wife Kristen as Lead Church Replanting Missionaries in 2023.
Pastor Scott earned a Doctor of Ministry in Strategic Leadership from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in 2022. His doctoral ministry project is entitled Designing a Replant Stategy for Chattahoochee Baptist Church in Marietta, Georgia. In 2022, he started implementing his replant strategy to reclaim, restore, rebuild, and recreate disciples who make disciples.
Dr. Rourk also works as a Missions and Church Planting/Replanting Consultant for the Noonday Assoication of Churches since Septermber 2022. He loves coaching and encouraging church planters at the monthly Church Planter Check-in cohort he started in 2023. He also began a Missional Pastor Meet-up cohort connecting Community, Outreach, and Missions pastors across Cobb County.
Scott’s Kingdom work has been featured in domestic and international media including two independent documentary films, the front page of the New York Times, New York Magazine, Christianity Today, The Christian Index, Baptist Press, church planting books, and newspapers..
Scott's been married to his Canadian wife, Kristen for 25 years. She enjoys leading women's ministry at the church and hosts an annual Women's tea in the Spring. She also loves using her spiritual gifts of service and hospitality to bring folks together unifying the body of Christ. Their two children, Megan (22) and Ethan (21), are both in their final year at Georgia State University.
